National Gallery of Victoria
NGV Guide

About

The National Gallery of Victoria houses approximately 70,000 works of art and exhibits to over 2.6 million visitors a year. Ranging from Turner to Rothko(my two favourites), it is a world class gallery with a locally-loved charm.

In an effort to open up the artwork on the walls to a wider audience, the Multimedia team embarked on a journey to install over 800 bluetooth beacons in over 100 rooms across two buildings. I assisted in redesigning their NGV Guide app with new interactive maps and a system to collate data about what exactly was on those walls.

As a necessity, to complement the beacon installation, we created interactive, to-scale maps. We designed and developed an interactive map system that was both visually pleasing, scalable and relatively easy to maintain.
