Dark Mofo 2018/2019

Goth Spring Break

Dark Mofo, MONA's winter solstice festival, now in its sixth year, drowns the streets red, hot and heavy with it's excessive, indulgent and indescribable howls for the debaucherous, extraordinary and macabre.

It is a festival that cannot be described, but rather felt. Grown beyond the internal team's capacity, Dark Mofo brought me on to design their website. Like no other brand I had worked on, I left my sensibilities back in Melbourne and immersed myself in the infectious, anything-can-be-tried spirit of the Dark Mofo team.

To avoid double handling the design and information - we made the decision to evolve the website into a progressive web app to replace the functions of the app. This meant, in addition to the 2018 rebrand, we added larger functional items such as an event planner and a Mapbox-connected interactive map as well as smaller improvements such as a satanic-inspired icon font, navigation between lineup artists/events and an offline mode.

I feel so fortunate to be inspired and energized by a global community of creative practitioners building beautiful things with code. I am dedicated to strengthening and contributing to these communities locally.
